The most frequently requested cosmetic procedure is tooth whitening. Over time you teeth can become stained by various foods and beverages such as tea, coffee and red wine. Smoking also causes discoloration as well as some medications such as tetracycline.

Many toothpastes now contain whitening agents but brushing alone is generally ineffective at whitening teeth. Effective procedures are available that can be completed at the dentist’s office or at home.

In-house treatments
The most effective and quickest treatments are done at the dentists office. A whitening gel is applied to your teeth which is then activated by a special lamp. A barrier is used to protect your gums from the whitening agent. When the gel is activated it remains on the teeth for fifteen minutes. This procedure is repeated three times. Only one visit is required.

At Home Treatment
Although the in-house treatments are the quickest and most effective, at home treatments are available that have the advantage of lower cost. Whiting gel is applied to an application tray which is then retained in the mouth for several hours. The procedure is repeated over a period of several days.
